In our work with homeless women & formerly incarcerated people, we teach the 3 steps to get into business that will allow people to make a difference in the short term, and in the long term:
The businesses listed below represent one or more of these options, and are willing to be a mentor to help people learn how to go from an employee mindset to one of being in business for yourself.
- Provide a service (Based on personal passion & purpose. This may be a long term goal.)
- Create a knowledge product (a video, report, e-book or book explaining why you are building a business & how you wish to serve your community)
- Adopt an existing product to sell (includes Consumer Protection Consultant, Wellness Consultant, Travel Consultant, Bill Payment Consultant and many more)

WeCare's "3C" Approach - Stepping Stones to Business Success
To help more people find small business success, there are "3 C's" which need to come together as a team around any new business owner (or entrepreneur-in-training). The consultant trainee, or apprentice, may have one of these natural talents - maybe all 3. The important piece is to assess their natural talents, and then team them up with people who have the other natural strengths. They are:
- Coach - someone who understands the fundamentals of the business and can guide a trainee forward, helping them to set and achieve goals
- Connector - someone who is great at developing new prospects for a business - either live or online
- Consultant - someone who can teach someone about a product and show them how it will solve a problem or challenge (also may provide a service)

Having lost his father at an early age, Shawn pulled himself back from some bad decisions and is looking to help others do the same!
